8TH DECEMBER 2001 BRIDLINGTON TOWN RESERVES 2 V 1 WESTELLA & WILLEBY A bright start from Westella and as early as the 2nd minute Danny Rhodes cut inside and shot from 25 yards only just skimming the bar. 2 minutes later a long throw fell to Nicky Laughton who shot over from 12 yards. In the 8th minute Gareth Ogle played Mark McGrath in down the right but his shot was well saved by the Bridlington keeper. In the 25th minute Chris Blenkin tried an audacious lob from 30 yards out and with the keeper off his line he was lucky to see the ball hit the bar. Hatton could have put Bridlington ahead but his one on one with the keeper ended in him shooting wide. The sides went in at the half way point goalless. Bridlington came out all guns blazing and scored twice in 2 minutes. In the 50th minute Cox shot from 25 yards and the ball looped over Hersch and into the net and two minutes later Brown netted in the bottom corner. Nicky Laughton grabbed a goal back for Westella firing low into the bottom corner and Westella continued to dominate but failed to break down the Bridlington defence. |
