25TH AUGUST 2001
WESTELLA & WILLERBY 1 V 1 NORTH
FERRIBY RESERVES
A game with very few chances being created from both sides. It was
Ferriby
who were enjoying the better part of possession with neither team really
threatening their opposition's goal.
After a tame first half and a 0-0 score line to go with it, the
second
half started off pretty much the same as the first, until Westella made
their first substitute.
Leading scorer Nick Laughton came off the bench and immediately
made an
impact by turning sharply on the edge of the area and struck a
relatively
tame shot which managed to creep past the Ferriby keeper and into the
bottom
corner for the first goal.
Westella appeared to be very comfortable at this stage and were coping
well
with whatever Ferriby threw at them.
With just a couple of minutes left on the referee's watch Ferriby broke
down
the right and crossed for their forward to nip in front of the defender
to
head in their equaliser.
