22ND SEPTEMBER 2001
WESTELLA & WILLERBY 2 V 1 HALL ROAD
RANGERS RESERVES
Westella started sharply and a chance fell early on to Chris Edmonds after
a
ball from Clark, but he put his shot over the bar. Darren McGrath had his
free kick punched clear after he was fouled by his brother Mark on the
edge
of the area. Westella nearly broke the deadlock in the 26th minute after a
long throw by Scott Clark was cleared to Andy Outram on the edge of the
area
and his shot went just wide of the goal.
Andy Outram did manage to put Westella ahead ten minutes later
after a
headed clearance from the Hall Road keeper fell to Outram just inside the
Hall Road half and he lobbed the ball back over the keeper to give
Westella
the lead.
Garreth Wilson got the second goal 5 minutes later after he latched
onto a
cross from Chris Edmonds to fire home from 12 yards.
Westella should have put the game beyond the young Hall Road side, but at
2-0 they were always in with a chance and they were gifted a late goal
after
a mistake by Ian Asquith in the Westella goal, as he misjudged the bounce
and saw the ball sail over his head and into the empty net.
