After a quiet opening ten minutes it was Westella via Scott Clark who had a first real attempt on goal as his shot from 20 yards was blocked on the line. Gareth Wilson also had a shot deflected wide minutes later. Hider Foods replied quickly through Leech who had a shot deflected wide by Westella keeper Paul Bottomley

. Moments later, Nick Laughton had a goal disallowed for offside but his disappointment was short lived as a 30 yard pass from Jamie Ham found Gareth Wilson in a wide position who crossed for Laughton to volley home.

The game was marred on the stroke of half time as Westella captain Mark McGrath (Moose) was sent off along with Hider Foods Clarke after a small skirmish.

Westella continued to dominate the game and on the hour Chris Edmonds extended Westella's lead to two goals from the penalty spot after Ainsley was sent off after handling the ball on the goal line.

Chris Edmonds turned provider as he crossed from wide to set up Nick Laughton for his second and Westella's third. Laughton left the field injured and with no subs left the game ended with both sides down to nine men each.
