21ST AUGUST 2001
WESTELLA & WILLERBY 1 V 2
RECKITTS
In a good game well fought Westella had the early pressure and it was
Danny
Rhodes who had his curling shot tipped round the post in the opening 6
mins.
Chris Edmonds also had his 25 yard effort tipped over by the Reckitts
keeper
in the 8th minute. Both sides were reduced to ten men when Gareth
Wilson of
Westella and Warren McMillan were sent off after a scuffle broke out
between
the two.
On 27 minutes Danny Rhodes opened the scoring for Westella with a
shot from
the edge of the area which curled inside the far post.
Reckitts reply was swift and they were soon back on level terms after
Westella keeper Ian Asquith punched clear only for the ball to land at
the
feet of Kurt Blake who then lobbed the stranded keeper.
Nicky Laughton squandered a chance minutes later after he broke the off
side
trap but sent his shot flying over the bar.
The game appeared to be heading for a draw until Reckitts received a
free
kick in the 83rd minute from 35 yards out. The ball was floated into the
box
and was met by the head of Tennyson who flicked it over the advancing
keeper, with what looked like the players back, to seal all three points
for
Reckitts.
