Beverley Town 1 v 0 Westella & Willerby

Westella suffered their second defeat in a week after falling behind to an early goal from an ex Westella player. On a tight pitch with an excellent surface both teams were able to pass the ball around.  The game came alive in the 8th minute after the Westella defence was breeched down their left hand side and the ball came over for Laud to slot past the advancing keeper. Westella struck back immediately as Darren McGrath was put clean through but his shot was well saved by the keeper. Westella created half chances from Gibson who headed over, Outram had a couple of shots well saved and Platten had a low drive deflected wide. Beverley could have extended the lead 3 minutes before half time when Durham was put clean through but his shot was well wide of the target. In the second half it looked like Beverley had shut up shop as they took every opportunity to take the ball towards the corner flags as early as the 50th minute! Consequently Westella found it very difficult to break the home side down, with no real cutting edge chances falling to their forwards and with only a Waller shot to speak of. The Westella keeper was only called into action once after the break after he saved well from a low shot.
