Hutton Cranswick 3 v 1 Westella & Willerby

Always going to be a hard fought game, with Westella doing the double over
Cranswick and we knew this game wasn't going to be easy. Hutton started the
better side with the wind behind them but found Westella hard to break down.
In the 35th minute Hutton Cranswick broke the deadlock. In a game of very
little quality or craft it was bound to come from a set piece as a corner
was easily headed home from close range after poor marking from the visiting
defenders.
Westella struggled to make any impact early into the second half and it was
another set piece which saw Cranswick double their lead. A corner was swung
in only for the unsuspecting Jamie Ham to put through his own net. Ham who
earlier replaced Lee Mankel who unfortunately had to be withdrawn due to a
nasty groin injury.
Westella managed to get back into the game after another set piece was
headed home from Mike Gibson after a wel executed corner from Jamie
Robinson. Westella were forced into another change when Chris Blenkin limped
off with what looked like an ankle injury. Steve Platten, his replacement,
was involved in the action immediately as he was booked for a late challenge
on the Hutton Cranswick left winger. With the game now looking beyond
Westella, not through lack of trying,  but more of ideas and invention,
Cranswick scored after a hopeful ball was hit forward and the Cranswick
striker finished well after a mix up between Mike Gibson and Matt
Herschell-Smith in the Westella goal as Bowman lobbed  the helpless keeper
from just outside the area.
