As part of the review of "where the club was going" some two and a half years ago we formulated a Sports Development Plan, a working document which outlines exactly what the club is aiming to achieve in a number of areas. This Plan took a number of months to compile taking into account, FA guidelines, Sports Council and Local Sports Development Unit guidelines. 1. OBJECTIVES To provide our members with the opportunity to progress their football careers along a sports development continuum. This continuum ranges from youngsters acquiring basic football skills, through participation in organised Junior football, onto competition at Senior level, whether it be Local or National - all at facilities of as high a standard as possible, and with the best available coaching and support services possible. Our aim is for excellence in everything that we do and what we offer our members, whether it be in terms of organisation, off the field activities, coaching facilities, to name but a few. We aim to provide an environment where people can reach the highest possible level THEY can achieve or WANT to achieve. We want to provide our members young or old with the opportunity to play football at the standard they are comfortable with. We will encourage those who show excellence at an early age to develop their skills by recommending them to a Professional School of Excellence if necessary. Those who wish to play for the enjoyment and the participation can do so in a friendly well organised environment - in effect increasing and extending participation for all. 2. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT To provide the best available facilities, coaching and organisation for youngsters (boys and girls) between the ages of 6 and 17, allowing them the opportunity to develop their skills in a well organised, professionally run environment. We aim for our youth development plan to provide the first steps along a football development continuum for those involved, from acquiring basic football skills through to participation in Junior soccer. I Mini Soccer To provide the facilities, organisation and coaching for youngsters aged between 6 and 11, to acquire the basic football skills and to develop their football skills with the emphasis on small sided games, our specific aim being our own MINI SOCCER CENTRE. II Junior Football To sustain and increase participation, and raise standards for youngsters between the ages of 11 and 17, in a well structured and organised environment, aiming for quality in everything that we do. III Girls Football To provide the facilities, organisation and coaching for girls between the ages of 7 and 16 with particular importance being placed upon increased participation within this important group of youngsters. IV Schools Liaison To develop relationships with local primary, junior and secondary schools, with a view to them using our facilities and coaching expertise. Our aim is for those schools to use the facilities for the purpose of P.E. and games lessons, school matches and the like, and for the pupils themselves to consider joining Westella & Willerby AFC. 3. IMPROVED FACILITIES To provide the best possible facilities for our members and local community to allow them to improve their skills to as high a standard as possible. Our aim is to provide playing facilities which meet the criteria of the leagues our on the field objectives require us to have. Off the field we wish our facilities to be of high quality, providing safety and comfort to all who use them. 4. COACHING DEVELOPMENT To provide our players with the best quality coaching possible from qualified coaches. Our aim is to facilitate our members who are interested in gaining a coaching qualification. We also aim to institute a policy of ongoing development for all coaches within our Club. 5. IMPROVED OFF THE FIELD STRUCTURE To put in place an improved Committee and Management structure, which will allow us to deliver the objectives outlined in all areas of our Sports Development Plan. 6. TO BECOME MORE SUCCESSFUL Our aim quite simply is to become more successful on the field of play, with an increase in the number of trophies won. 7.
